Dress code and adults-only events
Choose a dress code from a list or write your own, with colours and a photo, and guests see it under the reply button. An adults-only note tells guests politely that the celebration is for adults.

Set a dress code
- Open Invitation, then Guest side, then Guest experience, then Dress code.
- Choose a style, such as Black Tie or Smart Casual, or choose Write my own.
- If you like, add a Note for guests (optional), up to four colours under Colour palette, and a photo.
- Check What guests see, then press Save.
- Open Planning or the Invitation tab, then Guest experience, then Dress code.
- Choose a style, such as Black Tie or Smart Casual, or choose Write my own.
- If you like, add a Note for guests (optional), up to four colours under Colour palette, and a photo.
- Check What guests see, then tap Save.
A style from the list appears in each guest's own language. Your own text and your note are shown exactly as you wrote them.
What guests see
- The dress code under the reply button on your invitation, and in its own Dress code section.
- The dress code in the confirmation email and calendar file of guests who say they are coming, and in the final details email.
An adults-only celebration
- Open Invitation in the menu on the left. RSVP settings is just below Share invitation.
- Turn on Adults-only celebration and confirm with Apply.
- Open the Invitation tab and tap RSVP settings.
- Turn on Adults-only celebration and confirm with Apply.
Guests see a short, polite note under the reply button: "This will be an adults-only celebration. Thank you so much for your understanding." It is only a note and does not stop anyone from replying. The Child tick for companions and the high chair question are hidden.
When you change them
Once your invitation is published and until the event is over, changing the dress code or the adults-only setting sends a short update email to guests you have already contacted. Guests who cannot come, guests who asked for no emails and guests without an email address get nothing. Dress code changes only count while the guest experience is on.
At most one update email goes out every 15 minutes, and at most eight a day: a change made within 15 minutes of the previous update email does not send another one.
Frequently asked questions
How do we say no children without sounding rude?
Turn on Adults-only celebration. Guests see a short, polite sentence written for you, in their own language.
Can I write the dress code in my own words?
Yes. Choose Write my own, or add a Note for guests (optional) under a style from the list. Both are shown exactly as you write them, so write them in the language your guests read.
Do guests get an email when I add a dress code later?
Guests you have already contacted get a short update, as long as your invitation is published and the guest experience is on.
