Preview your invitation as a guest
You can open your real invitation page before you publish it and check every detail. Before publishing, the preview sends nothing; after publishing, it is your live page.
On this page
Open the preview
- Choose your event and open Invitation in the menu on the left. The phone frame shows your real invitation page and reloads by itself after each change.
- Press Preview in web view to open the same page full size in a new tab.
- Open your event and go to the Invitation tab.
- Tap the preview or Open full preview. Your real invitation page opens in a browser window.
On a computer, the Guest experience pages show the same phone frame, so you see each section as guests will.
The preview opens in the language of your app. Each guest sees the invitation in their own language: see the language of your invitation.
Before you publish
- The page carries a Preview strip that says "Guests can’t see this page yet."
- You can try the reply form, but nothing is sent or saved.
- The preview does not ask for the PIN.
- A preview stays open for two hours. After that the page shows This preview has expired; open it again from the app.
- Your guests still cannot open the link. Until you publish, they see a page saying the invitation is not available.
Everyone in your team can open the preview, including team members with the Viewer role.
After you publish
- The preview is your live invitation, as someone with the general link sees it. If your invitation is locked with a PIN, it asks for the PIN, as it does for guests.
- A reply you send from it is real: it appears on your guest list like any other reply. If you send one to test, delete it from your guest list afterwards.
- Do not test with a guest's personal link. It opens the page as that guest, and anything you send changes their reply.
When the preview shows a message instead
Sometimes the preview explains why guests cannot open the page instead of showing it: when you have closed the invitation, when Vowly has closed it, or when the event is over and the invitation was never published. Check the status shown with your link on Invitation, and see guests cannot open the invitation.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Premium to preview my invitation?
No. Previewing is free, before and after publishing. Publishing the invitation for your guests needs the free trial or Premium.
Does my test reply go anywhere?
Before publishing, no: the preview sends nothing. After publishing, a reply from the preview is a real reply on your guest list, so delete it if it was only a test.
Why does the preview ask me for a PIN?
After publishing, the preview is your live page and asks for the PIN as the general link does. You find the PIN in RSVP settings.
