Get notified when guests reply

When a guest replies, you hear about it in the bell, by push notification and by email. You choose which of these you get in Notification settings.

Three ways you hear about replies

  • The bell: every notification is kept in the list behind the bell for 180 days, even when push and email are off. On a computer the bell is at the top right of the page. In the app it is in Profile, and on some screens also at the top.
  • Push notifications: an alert on your phone, or in your browser on web.vowly.co, as soon as a guest replies or changes their reply.
  • Email: the owner and co-hosts get an email with the details of each reply, or one Daily summary each morning instead.

Viewers on your team are not notified about replies. Organisers get push notifications and the bell, but not the reply emails.

What you are told about

  • RSVP responses: a new reply, a changed reply, a guest joining the waiting list, or a place opening up.
  • Guest photos: a guest added a photo.
  • Guest book and requests: guest book entries, song requests, meal choices, dietary notes, room requests and gift reservations.
  • Planning reminders: tasks and payments that are due, appointments, the countdown to your event and your reply-by date.
  • Event and team: changes to the event and people joining or leaving your team.
  • Account: your trial and subscription, and Vow Points.
  • Support: replies from our support team.

Turn notifications on or off

  1. Open Profile and choose Notification settings. You can also press the bell, then Notification settings.
  2. Switch Push notifications or Email notifications off to stop them all, or use the switches under Notify me about for one kind.
  3. To get alerts in this browser, press Turn on under Notifications in this browser. If your browser blocks them, allow notifications for the site in the browser's settings.

Each person on your team sets their own notifications. For every setting on this screen, see Notification settings.

Fewer emails, a quieter day

  • Choose Daily summary to get one email each morning at 8:00, in your own time zone, instead of one email per reply.
  • To stop reply emails altogether, turn off the email switch of RSVP responses. Push notifications and the bell carry on.
  • Quiet on the event day is on unless you turn it off: on the day of your event, guest photos and guest book entries arrive without a sound, and one summary follows the next morning.

Frequently asked questions

Does my partner get the notifications too?

Yes, if they are on your team as a co-host or organiser. Co-hosts also get the reply emails. Each person chooses their own settings.

Why does a reply notification not show the guest's name?

The trial or Premium for this event has ended, so the details of replies are locked and the notification asks you to subscribe instead. Nothing is deleted.

I get no notifications on my phone. What can I do?

Check that notifications from Vowly Event are allowed in your phone's settings and that Push notifications is on in Notification settings. Every notification is also in the bell.

Do I get a notification for every reply when many arrive at once?

Not always. When a lot of replies arrive within a few minutes, some notifications are held back. Every reply is still in your guest list.
