Create an event before the date is fixed
You can create and plan an event before you know the date. Turn on Date not set yet and add the date when it is fixed. You need it before you publish the invitation.

Create the event without a date
In the third step of creating an event, Date and details, turn on Date not set yet. The other steps work as usual.
If the date you entered turns out not to be certain, you can turn on the same switch in Event settings, under Date and time, as long as the invitation is not published.
What works without a date
- Building your guest list, by hand, from your contacts or from Excel.
- Designing your invitation and previewing it.
- Tasks, budget and the seating plan.
- Your home screen and your events list show Date not set yet instead of a date.
What needs a date
- Publishing the invitation. Until there is a date, the invitation shows Add the date first. Because invitations go out only once the invitation is published, sending them waits for the date too.
- Turning on Guest experience for an invitation that is not published yet, because that publishes it.
- The save-the-date card.
- Programme parts, because the first part is your event itself, on its own date.
- The ready-made checklist (Add a ready-made checklist), because its tasks are dated from your event day.
- The countdown on your home screen.
Add the date later
- Choose your event, then Event settings in the menu on the left.
- Turn off Date not set yet, choose the date and time under Date and time and save.
- Open your event and tap the pencil button on the cover photo (Edit event).
- Turn off Date not set yet, choose the date and time under Date and time and save.
The Add the date button on your home screen and on Invitation takes you to the same place.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send invitations before I know the date?
No. Invitations go out only for a published invitation, and publishing needs a date. Until then you can build your guest list, design the invitation and plan.
Will my guests be told when I add the date?
Nothing has gone to your guests yet, because nothing can be sent before the date is set. They see the date when you send the invitation.
The app on my phone shows 1 July 2100 for my event.
An older version of the app shows an event without a date this way. Update Vowly Event from the App Store or Google Play; your event is fine.
